Pinnewala Elephant Orphanage

Pinnewala Elephant Orphanage is a nice place to see elephants upclose.

Arrive around 9:15 to feed the elephants fruit. Skip the milkfeeding, as it is over in 3 seconds, but walk down to the river around 10:00 to see them bathe. Get a seat in one of the restaurants and enjoy a fruit juice as you watch the elephants in the river below.

On the way out you can buy nice paper products made from elephant poo. Seriously, they are very nice.
