Adams peak

Adams peak, or Sri Pada, is an amazing hike that is really worth the sore legs afterwards. It is considered a holy mountain for Buddhist, Muslims and Hindus.

We went in december during pilgrimsseason, but avoided Poya and the weekend. We started the hike at 2:30 am and got to the top around 5 am walking in a comfortable tempo. It is truly amazing to walk together with people of all ages and shapes, old men and women, parenst carrying their small ones, monks in only their robes, many people walking barefoot.

During the pilgrimseason the stairs are lit all the way up, and there are small places that sell tea and local food. The walk up to 2,243m will definetly get your legmuscles a couple of days afterwards, but the view when the sun rises is amazing and definetly worth it. Make sure to bring plenty of warm cloths for the peak - it is very cold to wait for the sunrise (even for a Norwegian). We walked down in a slow manner, taking lots of pictures, and used around 1,5 hours. On your way down there are several places for massage.

We stayed at  The Olive which was very convenient and nice being perfecetly placed at the start of the hike.
